Claire Dean

MPH, RDN

Claire is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in eating disorder and disordered eating recovery, Intuitive Eating, and an anti-diet approach to nutrition. She believes all people deserve to have a healthy, balanced relationship with food, movement, and their bodies.

Claire earned her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Food Science at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, followed by her graduate degree and dietetic internship at the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston, Texas. There she earned her Masters in Public Health and gained experience working as a graduate research assistant on public health initiatives to improve child nutrition.

Claire’s interest in the anti-diet approach, Intuitive Eating, and eating disorder recovery began in her dietetic internship program, where she was fortunate to do a rotation with Eating Recovery Center. In addition to working with clients in private practice, Claire has served as the primary dietitian for PHP and IOP level eating disorder treatment programs. She also has experience working in an acute care setting providing clinical nutrition care to patients. Claire worked as the dietitian for kidney transplant teams at hospitals in both Houston and in San Diego, providing specialized nutrition counseling to this patient population.

Claire frequently employs the principles of Intuitive Eating in her individualized work with clients and takes a Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned approach to nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy. She believes each client is the expert of their own body, and she enjoys being able to walk alongside them on their journey.

Being from Louisiana and having grown up spending time in the kitchen with family, Claire recognizes the important role food has in culture, connection, and community. She enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and camping with her husband and dog, Bear. She hopes to share her passion for food and movement with others through her work.
